Introduction to Icon ‘Internal’ Couplings

Fernco Icon Couplings have been specifically designed to create a strong permanent connection whilst having minimal impact to natural flow. Tapered edges aid flow and thin coupling wall keeps bore reduction to a minimum.

Connecting DN100/DN150 with pushfit couplings

Our range of Icon Pushfit couplings are available in various sizes depending on the pipe(s) to be connected.

The connection process couldn’t be easier. Simply clean the internal surface of the pipes to be connected, push the coupling into the problem pipe and push the connecting pipe over the opposite end of the coupling. Designed to provide a reliable friction fit, these couplings are strong and long-lasting.

The Icon Pushfit range consists of six variations designed to provide straight connections to DN100 and DN150 pipes, or to provide adaptor connections when DN100 pipes are connecting to DN150 pipe sizes. Connections can be made to any pipe material via their internal surface.

Connecting DN150-DN600 with mechanical couplings

To ensure we provide couplings that exceed water company requirements, we’ve designed a range of Icon Mechanical couplings. These couplings feature a strong stainless steel body that utilise strength from the connecting pipes to give strength to the joint, which provides excellent resistance to lateral shear loads, protecting pipe alignment over the joint.

These couplings are be inserted into the pipes to be connected, and tightened from the outside with a standard 8mm hex head screw bit. When tightened, the stainless steel body expands to compress the rubber sleeves against the internal surface of the pipes creating a watertight seal.

It’s widely known that the external diameters of pipes within the same nominal diameter can differ but so can the internal diameters especially at larger sizes. For this reason, we manufacture Icon Mechanical to specific site requirements to ensure our customers have a coupling that’s exactly as they need it.

Features

The Icon coupling features a stainless steel body which compresses the rubber against the internal surfaces of the pipes, when tightened. Other features include:

Available to suit pipes with internal diameters from 150 – 600mm.
Overall width of coupling is 130mm
Stainless steel components are Grade 1.4301 (304) material
Sizes 150mm up to 300mm with single bolt assembly; sizes greater than 300mm with two bolt assembly
Seal has tapered end sections for a smooth transition between the pipe bore and the coupling
