The following information applies to the 2 individual components (Component A and Component B) of the 2 part resin bag. It should be noted that when both components are mixed together (as supplied in the Pipe Doctor kit), the resulting mixture is totally inert, non toxic, environmentally and ecologically friendly and is therefore safe to use in confined spaces.
In addition, the information provided will only apply should either section of the resin bag become damaged prior to the removal of the separating clip and the start of the mixing process.
Component A - Waterglass Component (Hardner)
Component B - Type W and S Short Liner Resin
Component A - Chemical identification- silicic acid, sodium salt. Less than 10% sodium silicate
Component B - Diphenylmethane- 4,4'- Diisocyanate, isomers and homologs (MDI, Polymer- MDI)
Component A - Potential irritation to skin and danger of serious eye injury.
Component B - Acute Exposure Harmful by inhalation and may cause skin and eye irritation if come into contact. Chronic Exposure Isocyanate component is a respiratory sensitizer and may cause an allergic respiratory reaction. Medical supervision of all employees who come into contact with isocyanate is recommended.
Component A and Component B - Remove all contaminated clothing immediately. If it comes into contact with skin then wash with soap and water and rinse well. If component comes into contact with eyes then rinse with running water for several minutes, keeping eyes wide open before getting medical attention.
Component A - Adjust firefighting measures to environment. No special measures required.
Component B - Water contamination of product will generate CO2 gas. In confined spaces this will cause pressurization or explosion.
Wear self contained breathing apparatus in confined spaces or when exposed to combustion products.
Component A - Wear protective clothing. Prevent penetration into sewers and waters but if penetration occurs inform the appropriate authorities.
Component B - Wear protective clothing. Do not touch if spilled but cover with absorbent material. Wash down spill area with decontaminant solution of 90% water, 8% ammonia and 2% detergent before leaving for 10 minutes (allow for reaction). Contaminated absorbent material may pose the same hazards as the spilled material. CO2 and heat will be released. Collect in open containers and add more decontamination solution before covering containers.
Component A - Keep containers tightly closed and when opening handle with care. Store in original containers.
Component B - Avoid eye and skin contact and inhaling. In all areas where MDI aerosols and/ or vapour are produced, exhaust ventilation must be provided. Store in cool, dry and well ventilated location and keep containers closed. Avoid product temperatures above 40 degreeC and below 0 degreeC.
Component A - Take off contaminated/ wetted clothing immediately. Do not inhale gasses/ vapours/ aerosols. Avoid contact with skin and wear safety gloves. Keep away from food and drink. Wash hands at end of work.
Component B - Occupational exposure limits: Methylene bisphenyl isocyanate (MDI): ACGIH TLV is 0.005 ppm (0.051 mg/m3): TWA and OSHA PEL is 0.02 ppm ceiling.
Engineering controls: Provide general and/or local exhaust ventilation to control airborne levels below the exposure guidelines.
Respiratory protection: Atmospheric levels should be maintained below the exposure guideline. For most conditions no respiratory protection should be needed. However, if material is heated or sprayed, use an approved air purifying respirator or positive pressure supplied air respirator.
Protective gloves: Use protective clothing impervious to this material. Selection of specific items such as face shield, gloves, boots or full body suit will depend on operation.
Eye protection: Use safety glasses/goggles.
